A soldier was martyred on Monday when terrorists attacked a check-post in North Waziristan's Ghariom area, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
"Terrorists opened fire on a military post in Ghariom, North Waziristan District," the military's media wing said in a statement.
"Own troops responded in a befitting manner. During exchange of fire, Naik Ghulam Mustafa, age 37 years, resident of Muzaffarabad, embraced shahadat," added the military's media wing.
Following the attack, a search operation was launched in the area to 'eliminate' any terrorists still present.

On July 18, a soldier of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan.
The military's media wing said the operation was conducted in the Senai Narai area of the district on the reports of the presence of terrorists.
"During intense exchange of fire with terrorists, Sepoy Junaid, age 20 years, resident of Balakot, district Mansehra embraced shahadat," the statement added.
On July 13, an officer and a soldier of the Army embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of fire with terrorists in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, the military had said.
Three terrorists were also killed during the ‘area sanitisation operation’ in the Zewa area of the erstwhile FATA, the military’s media wing, the ISPR, said in a statement.
