The mutilated body of a local trader was found a day after he was kidnapped from a crowded market in Model Town in Wah Cantt in Rawalpindi.
The mutilated body of 32-year-old furniture trader Muhammad Irfan was found from the sewer after he was allegedly kidnapped by associates of a local land mafia.
The victim’s brother, Imran Shahzad, had earlier lodged a complaint with the police stating that Malik Sohail and his five men abducted his brother at gunpoint from a crowded market on Wednesday and several people were witnessed to it.
Talking to the media, the complainant alleged that soon after his brother was kidnapped, he had reached the Cantonment police station to file a complaint, but the police did not entertain him by denying him access to the police station. He said that after he was not entertained by the police, he called on the police emergency helpline 15 and a police party reached the crime scene after an hour.
Imran alleged that after the police dilly-dallied the investigation, family members and friends searched for the kidnapped person on their own.

On Thursday morning, locals informed them about the body of a man lying near a sewer. Later, it was discovered to be Irfan’s body. Imran said that his brother had been tortured to death as his body bore many torture marks. He claimed the suspects wanted to grab their ancestral land in the locality.
The victim’s brother said that the killers had earlier filed fake complaints with the police against them and they had to visit the police station umpteenth time.
He said that his slain brother had earlier survived a life attempt by the same accused.
Imran said that the Cantonment police know about the entire episode but they were trying to hush up the case and denying them justice.
He said that the suspects mustered the courage to resort to such brutality owing to the non-seriousness and apathetic attitude of the police.
The local police said that they shifted Ifran’s body to Taxila tehsil headquarters hospital with the help of Rescue 1122. It was handed over to the victim’s family after an autopsy.
The police said that a detailed postmortem report would be received in 15 days and confessed that the victim had been tortured to death.
