Sindh reports record high single-day Covid tally
Over 2,517 coronavirus infections confirmed, 20 more deaths according to CM house
KARACHI:
Over 2,517 coronavirus infections were confirmed in Sindh on Tuesday, the highest single-day tally since June 2020. According to the Chief Minister’s House, 2,517 people were diagnosed when 18,737 samples were tested for the contagion.
The past 24-hours also saw 20 more deaths and 6,590 recoveries, said CM Syed Murad Ali Shah. The provincial pandemic tally rose to 371,745 while the death toll and number of recoveries thus far stood at 5,860 and 330,166, respectively, he added.
At least 35,719 persons are under treatment for the deadly virus, said Shah. Of them, 34,405 were in home isolation, 45 at isolation centres and 1,269 at different hospitals. The condition of 1,137 patients was stated to be critical with at least 96 shifted to ventilators.
Of the new cases, 1,989 were detected in Karachi, with the highest number of infections reported in the East district.
Meanwhile Hyderabad reported 93 new infections, Sanghar 59, Mirpurkhas 45, Jamshoro 42, Badin 38, Tharparkar 34, Tando Muhammad Khan 31, Matiari 27, Umerkot 24, Dadu 22, Sujawal 13, Naushero Feroze eight, Ghotki seven, Kashmore six, Khairpur four, Shaheed Benazirabad three, Thatta two, Jacobabad one and Shikarpur and Sukkur as many.
