Acid attack victim succumbs to injuries

The attack took place on June 29 and Irham Gul had been hospitalized in a critical condition

A 20-year-old girl who had been injured in an acid attack inside the high security zone of Kohat Cantonment, has succumbed to her injuries.

The attack took place on June 29 and Irham Gul had been hospitalized in a critical condition. The unfortunate 2nd year student was rushed to Combined Medical Hospital (CMH) in Kohat and but then referred to Peshawar when her condition deteriorated.

Police said that the father of the girl was a shop keeper who had been provided with a small quarter inside the Cantonment.

The mother of Irham Gul, the complainant Rozia Sultan, 50, had lodged an FIR with police soon after the attack, stating that she was sleeping outside at veranda at her residence and her daughter Irham Gul, 20, was sleeping in her room. At night Irham rushed out screaming with an injured face as someone had thrown acid at her, leaving her badly injured.

“I gathered the neighbours who helped me shift her to the hospital. She was taken to Combined Military Hospital (CHM) after which she was sent to Divisional Hospital for further treatment.

Police said that “The girl was seriously injured. She can’t even talk at the moment and her face had been completely disfigured. She was initially treated at the local hospitals but later referred to Peshawar for further treatment.”
