Gen Qamar reiterates firm resolve of armed forces against enemies of Pakistan

COAS visits family of Shaheed Captain Basit Ali in his native village near Haripur in K-P on second day of Eidul Azha

While visiting the family of Shaheed Captain Basit Ali in his native village near Haripur in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday reiterated the firm resolve of the armed forces against enemies of Pakistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

On July 13, the 25-year-old captain was among two security personnel who embraced martyrdom during clashes with terrorists in Zewa area of Kurram tribal district.

Three terrorists were also killed during the "area sanitisation operation" in the area, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

During intense exchange of fire with terrorists, Captain Basit and Sepoy Hazrat Bilal, a 22-year-old resident of Orakzai embraced martyrdom, the statement added.

On the second day of Eidul Azha, the COAS, along with his wife, visited the family of the captain. General Qamar prayed for the departed soul and offered Fateha, the ISPR added.

While interacting with the family of Shaheed, according to the ISPR, the army chief said that nothing is greater than laying down one's life for the defence of the country. "Entire nation is proud of the ultimate sacrifices rendered by our national heroes," the COAS was quoted as saying by the ISPR.

He also reiterated the firm resolve of the armed forces against enemies of Pakistan.

General Qamar had also spent the first day of Eidul Azha with army troops stationed near Pak-Afghan international border in Kurram district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The ISPR in a statement said that Gen Qamar lauded the army formation for expeditious fencing in the area of responsibility along the Pak-Afghan border and reiterated the military’s firm resolve to ensure security along borders in the face of evolving challenges.

“We are ever ready to defend Pakistan against all the threats and at all costs,” the military's media wing quoted Gen Qamar as saying.

While interacting with troops and sharing Eid greetings, the army chief appreciated their high morale and unflinching resolve to defend the motherland.

He expressed complete satisfaction over operational preparedness of the formation and effective measures in place for border security.
