Cops held in drug smuggling case remanded

Committees are also probing the available and missing court properties at the centre

HYDERABAD/KARACHI:

A local court sent on Monday five policemen of the CIA Centre Jamshoro on two-day physical remand in a case pertaining to drugs possession and smuggling.

The six suspects, including five cops, were produced before the South judicial magistrate at the City Court and the court granted the police physical remand of the accused.

The case against them was lodged at Boat Basin Police Station.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Range Police has formed two separate committees to probe the alleged involvement of the CIA Center Jamshoro cops smuggling following their arrest after the Sindh Rangers found them transporting large quantities of hashish in a police mobile van in Karachi.

Hyderabad DIG Sharjeel Kharal formed a committee headed by Badin SSP Shabir Sethar. The committee includes ASP Alina Rajpar, Inspectors Siraj Lashari and Abdul Qadir Samo as members. A separate committee has been formed by Jamshoro SSP Javed Baloch. The committees are also probing the available and missing court properties at the centre.
