LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge first dismissed pre-arrest bail as non-prosecution of accused advocate Hassan Niazi, nephew of Prime Minister Imran Khan and then granted him the same after he satisfied the court over his absence.

The complainant Shahzadi Nargis, a widow of former governor of Balochistan Nawab Akbar Bugti, had lodged an FIR against Niazi under several charges including attempted murder.

However, in the first spell of proceedings, the accused Niazi could not appear before the court as a result of which the concerned court dismissed his bail as non-prosecution.

Later, Hassan Niazi approached the district and sessions court and tendered an apology for not appearing on time. Niazi told the court he had been struck in a traffic jam owing to which he could not reach on time. So he requested the court to grant him bail. At which the judge granted him bail till August 4, restraining police to make his arrest in this case. Meanwhile, the judge sought police records by said date.

A few days ago, a scuffle had erupted between two groups of lawyers during court proceedings. Niazi slapped a senior lawyer and also shouted at Nargis. Later, Nargis got registered FIR against advocate Niazi and four unidentified persons under various charges including attempted murder.
