ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday reserved judgement in a case pertaining to the non-regularisation of daily-wage teachers and sought a reply from the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on an affidavit.

IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani took up the petition of some daily-wage teachers, who argued that on “the recommendation of the cabinet committee”, the FDE regularised some teachers but they were discriminated against.

The court directed the FDE and federal education ministry to submit affidavits specifically stating that none of the daily-wage teachers had been regularised.

The bench also directed the petitioners to submit an affidavit apprising the court that who had been regularised without due process and that their right had been infringed.

The petitioners’ lawyer said that IHC gave a verdict in 2018 directing the regulatory body to get the joining of daily-wagers in three months. However, they were being treated unfairly as they could not join the FDE while others were regularised on the direction of the cabinet committee.

The court remarked that if the FDE had regularised other daily-wage teachers on the recommendation of the cabinet committee, the petitioners also deserve the same treatment.

The court, after seeking a reply, reserved the judgement.
