Arrested: Gang busted for looting commuters

Motorway Police chased the pickup and busted the tire of the van with the gunshot.

Motorway police busted a gang of criminals and arrested three alleged robbers for their involvement in looting commuters on the Murree Expressway on Saturday.


A commuter lodged a complaint with the Motorway Police that some robbers had looted some cable-wire worth Rs40,000 at gun point from him and fled in a Suzuki pickup (IDT-1734). On this information, the police alerted all the patrolling cars.

After few minutes, DSP Syed Iqrar Hussain Shah, SPO Tayyab Nazir, SPO Malik Awais and Muhammad Shafiq spotted the van and signaled it to pull over, but the driver instead of stopping sped away. Motorway Police chased the pickup and busted the tire of the van with the gunshot.

The officials succeeded in arresting the three alleged robbers, Fayyaz, Azeem and Amjad, and recovered the looted wire from them along with weapons.

The arrested culprits confessed to involvement in different robberies. The gang consists of seven members with Talat as its head.

Later, the arrested suspects along with the weapons were handed over to the local police for further legal action and investigation.

The Inspector General, National Highways and Motorway Police Zafarullah Khan has appreciated the performance of the officers who took part in this action.
