Speaking on the occasion, Mufti Kifayatullah said that he faced an immense ordeal and ill-treatment at the jail against which he had also protested with a hunger strike. He levelled serious allegations against the prison administration and maintained that he was subjected to inhumane treatment about which he had also informed his son Hafiz Hussain.

Mufti Kifayatullah said because of inhuman treatment, his heart disease and diabetes have worsened while he has also sustained damage to his eyes and teeth.
Earlier, the federal cabinet had approved a treason case against Mufti Kifayatullah after he had raised questions against the head of a state institution on a private channel. Mufti Kifayatullah did not meet anyone during his imprisonment, including his family, which was against the prison rules.
According to the jail manual, there is no case against him in which meeting with the visitors was prohibited. After a small media briefing upon his release from the jail, Mufti Kifayatullah left for Mansehra with the workers.
