Traffic police issue alternate traffic plan for motorists

The development work on Rawal Dam Chowk Flyover has been expedited by the apex civic agency to complete the project in October this year while the traffic police issued an alternate traffic plan on Monday.

The original deadline for the project was December of this year, however, Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Aamer Ali Ahmed directed to complete the project by end of October. Therefore, the authority’s staff has started working in double shifts to complete the project.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued an alternate traffic plan to be enforced till October 31. The motorists coming from Murree and Bhara Kahu to reach Rawalpindi and Expressway have been advised to use Srinagar Highway, Zero Point and Faizabad interchange.

Those using IJP Road to reach Murree and Bhara Kahu have been instructed to use 9th Avenue, Srinagar Highway, Kashmir Chowk and Murree Road while motorists using Park Road to reach Rawalpindi through Rawal Dam Chowk have been directed to divert to take Lehtar Road, Khanna Pull, Expressway, and Faizabad interchange.

ITP Traffic SSP Syed Karar Hussain urged the citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and take updates from ITP’s radio station. He said that their mission is to provide services to the people.

Moreover, the project head Muhammad Tahir told The Express Tribune that carpeting work on slip road besides service road for people traveling from Rawal Chowk to Faizabad has been completed 90 per cent.

He further said that 50 per cent carpeting off the slip road from Faizabad to Islamabad Club Road and Serena Chowk has also been completed.

He added that the construction of slip roads would create ease for heavy traffic coming from Kashmir and Murree and for those going back from Faizabad.
