DRAP receives over 10,000 applications for registration

Authority seeks opinion of the pharmaceutical companies concerned within 15 days.

ISLAMABAD:

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has received 10,373 applications for registration of various drugs including herbal, homeopathic and nutraceuticals during the past one year.

A provisional list of applications received for registration has been compiled on which DRAP has sought the opinion of the pharmaceutical companies concerned within 15 days.

The shortcomings in the provisional list will be rectified within the stipulated period. However, any feedback received after the deadline will not be considered. After the deadline, a final list will be prepared.

According to DRAP officials, the Health and OTC Department has received 1,909 applications for registration of herbal and Greek medicines, 2,208 applications for registration of homeopathic medicines and 6,256 applications for registration of nutraceutical medicines.

DRAP officials said that they will start the registration process under the first come first served policy for all applications received for registration of medicines. As per provisional list prepared by DRAP, some of the companies that have applied for registration of medicines include Hamdard Laboratories in Karachi and Qarshi Industries in Haripur.
