SWABI:

A 14-year-old boy gunned down his own mother in the name of honour outside a court in Swabi district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

Registering an FIR in the case, Head Constable Hazrat Bilal told the police that Nasehat Bibi wife of Zubir resident of Naranji village, had been brought to court for the hearing of her case where she was granted bail by the court of Amir Ali, Judicial Magistrate Swabi. After the bail, she was sitting in the veranda with a lady constable waiting for the documents when the incident happened, he stated. He said that during this time a young man approached her and then opened fire at her, killing her on the spot. The young boy, who is the son of the deceased, escaped but police chased him and arrested him along with a TT pistol red handed.

Police said that the deceased was the mother of five boys and three girls. And she was 42. Her husband Zubir lodged an FIR with Permoli police station of Swabi district against her on May 25, 2021 blaming that his wife eloped with her friend Shad Ali. Later police arrested the couple and Nasehat Bibi was shifted to a shelter house while her second husband Shad Ali was sent to Jail.

Police said the accused was a juvenile of just 14 years and his father encouraged him to kill his mother in the name of honour. Talking to The Express Tribune an advocate said that brining the gun to the premises of court itself is a big question mark.

“Police guards often take a few thousands and allow the accused bring their handguns with them to the courts. In K-P alone around 15 people have been killed or injured inside the court premises this year which is really an alarming trend,” he said, adding that honour killing of women is also on the rise across the province.

How I wish if some one had told the young man that there is no honour in killing ...killing any one is a murder ..
