Rawalpindi Tehsil Council has prepared a tax-free surplus budget for 2021-22 worth Rs582.5 million which will be presented for approval next week. In the budget, Rs115 million is earmarked for salaries while Rs450 million for development schemes.
The council will organise a youth festival and traditional fairs in the district under this budget. Funds of Rs5 million have been kept for these fairs. Rs3.5 million will be provided for upgrading civil defence at the tehsil level as well.
A special grant will also be given by the Punjab government in the budget. The tehsil is expected to earn an annual income of Rs500 million.

Funds have been allocated for various development schemes for the seven tehsils of Rawalpindi district after the end of the district council system.
Development schemes of Rs350 million for the development of Gujar Khan, the largest tehsil of the district will be given while Rs230 million has been set aside for Rawalpindi tehsil.
Similarly, Rs120 million has been earmarked for Murree tehsil, Rs100 million for Kahuta tehsil and Rs100 million will be allocated for Kallar Syedan tehsil. There will be a separate special development grant of Rs90 million for Kotli Satian.
