Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is all set to direct another film after Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, which she co-directed with Krish.
Kangana will now be directing Emergency. Taking to her Koo account to announce the same, Kangana wrote, "Pleased to wear director's hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me.”
The vain yet popular star added, “Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritest Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it, my excitement is high. This is going to be a tremendous journey, my leap to another league #Emergency #Indira."
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Kangana elaborated on her latest venture. "Yes. This is going to be my second directorial. Even though I wanted another film but it so happened that I was very keen on bringing Indira Gandhi's story to the silver screen. Mind you, this has never happened before,” she remarked.
The Queen actor went on, "We are working on the project and the script is its final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi, it is a grand period film, to be precise a political drama that will help my generation understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India."
Kangana has also promised that many prominent actors will be a part of this film, and that she is looking forward to playing the political leader herself.
Emergency was previously supposed to be directed by Sai Kabir when Kangana had said, "Happy to announce my dear friend Sai Kabir and I are collaborating on a political drama, which will be produced by Manikarnika Films and written and directed by Sai Kabir."
But Sai will reportedly be directing Tiku Weds Sheru for a streaming platform, according to the Hindustan Times. The film will also be backed by Kangana's Manikarnika Films. Whereas Kangana will next be seen in Thalaivi, a biopic on late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. She also has Dhaakad and Tejas in the pipeline.
