COAS appoints Lt-Gen Aziz as Col Commandant Artillery Corps
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday installed Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz, Commander 4 Corps, as Colonel Commandant of Artillery Corps.
The development comes during Gen Qamar’s visit to Artillery Centre, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“Outgoing Colonel Commandant of Artillery Corps Lieutenant General Humayun Aziz (retd), large number of serving and retired officers and soldiers attended the ceremony,” said the military’s media wing.
While interacting with officers and troops, Gen Qamar appreciated the corps for displaying the highest standards in all professional pursuits, including their exemplary performance in operations, it added.
Pakistan Army would do all that is possible to modernise the Corps of Artillery as part of its overall drive to prepare for the future threat, the ISPR quoted the COAS as saying.
Earlier this week, General Qamar laid special emphasis on maintaining high standards of operational preparedness along the Line of Control (LoC) and Pak-Afghan border amid “evolving geo-strategic milieu”.
The statement came after a two-day-long 78th Formation Commanders’ Conference held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi with Gen Qamar in chair and attended by corps commanders, principal staff officers and all formation commanders of Pakistan Army, the ISPR had said.
