The degree of a ruling party lawmaker in Punjab was declared fake by the issuing university on Wednesday.

The Punjab University declared the graduation degree of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Bilal Asghar Warraich as fake.

A report said the disciplinary and degree committee of PU reviewed the degree, and it was determined that the certificate was fake.

The report added that Warraich cheated PU by providing false information. In addition, the Faisalabad Intermediate Board disclosed that his intermediate degree was also fake.

The investigation further revealed that the PTI lawmaker was never issued any intermediate result card.

The PU report further said that even those who passed intermediate in 1996 were not eligible for graduation examination in 1997 and it is against the rules to give graduation examination on the basis of fake degree.

The disciplinary committee had previously summoned Warraich eight times to hear his position on the investigation but the lawmaker failed to appear.
