Fans believe Xulfi might be the best thing to happen to 'Coke Studio'

Many are welcoming the 'Hum Zalmi' hitmaker with open arms

After ages of speculation, Coke Studio (CS) has confirmed that Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, popularly known as Xulfi, will be taking the wheel for its upcoming season. "Shuru karain? (Let's begin?)," a tweet on the official CS Twitter handle read, in response to which the Laari Chooti crooner shared a smile emoticon.

In March this year, maestro Rohail Hyatt had confirmed that he is stepping down from the renowned music platform as its producer. The former Vital Signs band mate announced his exit on the micro-blogging site while responding to a query posed by a fan. When asked if Hyatt became active on social media after taking a break from CS, he replied, “I am sure CS is being planned but not by me." He further shared how former EP front man Xulfi will be an apt replacement for him in the popular show.

Earlier, when reached out to, Xulfi told The Express Tribune that there is always a possibility of him leading the charge. The former Call guitarist shared, “Every year, there’s this news. So, there’s a probability of doing Coke Studio every year. No one knows and let’s see what the future holds.”

Nevertheless, ever since the announcement made its way to Twitter, many social media users have been sharing their excitement while singing praises for the Hum Zalmi hit maker. “Ab aega maza (Now this will be fun)” tweeted a fan. “I am crying happy tears!” added another in awe. “I CANNOT wait for this!” chimed in one more in sheer enthusiasm. “@zulfiqarjkhan best wishes bro,” a user wrote addressing the maestro. While a user even claimed “This is the best thing that can happen for Coke Studio!” Others, however, can’t wait for his “masterclass”.

It is pertinent to mention here that Xulfi has previously produced Hum Aik Hain under the banner of CS and was also roped into to do Coke Studio Explorer before the latter was called off in season 12.

The Vital Signs founding member launched CS in 2008 and took a break after six seasons. He returned as the producer for the show in 2019 and churned out two consecutive seasons. Strings took the reins from season six till 10 and Ali Hamza along with Zohaib Kazi co-produced season 11.
