Power pilferage detected at four housing societies

FIA disconnects electric connections, seizes transformers and conductors; cases registered

FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has detected theft and illegal use of electricity in four housing societies in the Bhara Kahu area within the limits of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

FIA teams disconnected all the illegal electric connections and seized all transformers and conductors. FIA has registered four separate cases against the owners and administration of the society and SDO of WAPDA.

The FIA and IESCO teams led by anti-corruption circle officer Shahid Habib raided the Yar Muhammad Valley, Safari Park Enclave Valley, Kayani Valley, and JJ Valley at Bhara Kahu on the instructions of Director FIA Islamabad Zone Waqar Chauhan and Additional Director Waheedur Rehman Khattak.

The illegal societies did not get any NOC from IESCO and connected private transformers, poles to IESCO’s power lines.

According to FIA officials, the FIA ​​and IESCO teams have disconnected the connections and seized the equipment.

According to IESCO officials, an estimated loss of over Rs45 million has been sustained to the exchequer from the use of illegal connections. It is suspected that WAPDA’s SDO was also involved in the scam.

FIA officials said that cases have been registered against owners of Yar Mohammad Valley Phalgran, Kayani Valley, Safari Park Enclave Valley, JJ Valley, SDO WAPDA, and other officials.

A senior FIA officer said that four separate cases have been registered against the accused and one accused has been arrested and an investigation has been started.
