Azerbaijan lauds Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace

ISPR says Azerbaijan naval commander calls on Gen Qamar, discusses matters of mutual interest

Commander of Azerbaijan Naval Forces Rear Admiral Subhan Bakirov called on army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and discussed matters of mutual interest, military said on Tuesday.

“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including defence, training, security cooperation between both countries, and overall regional security situation were discussed,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Pakistan values its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan, General Qamar was quoted as saying while offering all possible assistance and cooperation in development and defence related fields to the brotherly country.

According to the military’s media wing, the army chief also commended thorough professionalism and valour of Azerbaijan forces.

“Both sides reaffirmed their determination to work together for enhancing diplomatic and security cooperation in various fields,” it added.

The visiting commander appreciated Pakistan's support to Azerbaijan and its sincere efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region, especially the Afghan peace process, said the ISPR.
