KARACHI:

The PIB Colony police killed an alleged peddler during an 'encounter' at Jhanda Chowk near Essa Nagri graveyard on Monday. His accomplice, however, managed to escape.

The drug peddler succumbed to injuries while being taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

According to SP Gulshan Iqbal Maroof Usman, the drug peddler killed in the shootout was identified as Naeem Shah, son of Haider Shah.

The deceased was a resident of Purani Sabzi Mandi and hailed from Mardan. The police recovered a narcotic known as ice and a weapon from the deceased.

SP Gulshan-e-Iqbal further shared that the deceased was wanted for nine attempted murder cases, drug peddling and illegal weapon possession. SSP East Sajid Sadozai shared that police raided Naeem Shah's hideout.

The police also arrested Haider Shah, the father of the deceased drug peddler. "The duo were symbols of terror in the area and used to supply drugs to various localities of Karachi," the SSP said.
