The President of the Arts Council has confirmed to The Express Tribune that the news of the veteran singer passing away is incorrect. On Saturday, reports of the popular singer Sunny Benjamin John popularly known as S B John passing away emerged.
The famous crooner is 87. The Karachi-based singer started his singing career from Radio Pakistan in 1950 after getting inspiration from his grandfather.
He rose to fame after he sang the famous Tu Jo Nahin Hai, Tau Kuchh Bhi Naheen Hai for the 1959 film Savera. S B John also honoured with the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 2011 for his remarkable contributions to the field of music.
Correction: An earlier version of the story stated that SB John has passed away. This was a mistake on our behalf and the error has been regretted with sincere apologies to the family.
