Govt curbing smog, pollution: minister

The provincial government has setup an Environment Endowment Fund of Rs5 billion

Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht has claimed that the outcome of the steps taken by the provincial government to control environmental pollution in Punjab yielded excellent results.

He stated this during a seminar jointly organised by Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Government College University and other universities on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The provincial finance minister added, “The transfer of brick kilns modern zig zag technology across Punjab in a short span of six months ensured a significant reduction in the smoke.

The provincial government has setup an Environment Endowment Fund of Rs5 billion.” Addressing the seminar, he further said two major projects Rs400 million were being implemented in the next financial year to provide clean water in Lahore.
