Border markets being set up

They will provide economic opportunities and sustenance to the people residing in border areas

Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment on Tuesday said that Pakistan and Iran had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish markets along border areas. According to the MoU, three border markets are being established at Gabd, Mund and Chedgi in Balochistan, near Pakistan’s border with Iran. These markets will not only enhance bilateral trade, but will also provide economic opportunities and sustenance to the people residing in border areas. Accordingly, in the first phase, three markets will be opened at the border points and in the second phase, joint border bazaars will be established on three other border points. Moreover, according to the understanding, six marketplaces are to be established on the border between Balochistan and Sistan-Balochistan province of Iran.
