A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) handed over three Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) activists to the police on physical remand. The suspects appeared in cases related to the possession of illegal weapons and ammunition.
The ATC was hearing the cases at Karachi Central Jail. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials produced the accused MQM-L activists, Naeem Khan, Aleemuddin and Imran, before the court. The investigation officer (IO) informed the ATC that the three men were arrested in separate raids on Allahwala Town and Landhi on Friday.
He claimed that illegal weapons and ammunition were confiscated from their possession. Maintaining that further interrogation was needed, the IO sought the physical remand of the accused. The court accepted the IO’s request and remanded the suspects till June 4.

According to the police, the arrested MQM-L activists were involved in the attack on MQM-Haqiqi’s head office, Bait-ul-Hamza, as well as the killing of party workers, police and other law enforcement officials in various incidents.
Witnesses summoned
Separately, the ATC summoned more witnesses in cases related to the attack on a media house, terrorism and anti-state slogans. Accused MQM leaders Amiefore r Khan, Qamar Mansoor and Dr Farooq Sattar appeared in the court.
During the hearing, the eyewitness presented by the police recorded his statement. The witness, Inspector Ali Raza, stated that the accused pelted stones on the orders of their leaders. The counsels conducted the cross-examination of the witness’ statement.
The court adjourned the hearing till June 19 and summoned more witnesses at the next hearing.
