The police claim that Shehzad is involved in 18 murders

KARACHI:

The Karachi Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested a terrorist linked with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-London) and to have confiscated a hand grenade from him in Malir City.

According to police, a squad of the Malir Police conducted a raid on a tip-off and arrested the suspected terrorist, Muhammad Shehzad alias Khaji. The police said that suspect received training from India’s Research and Analysis Wing.

The police claim that Shehzad is involved in 18 murders. He joined the MQM’s Shah Faisal Sector 104 in 1988 as a worker and joined Naeem Shri's target killing team in 1993, say the police, adding that Shehzad was sent to Delhi, India in 2000 on the orders of the MQM-London leadership.

Shehzad is accused killing SI Aslam and Constable Ayub and injuring DSP Mukhtiar in 1994. Besides, he is accused of torturing six residents of Musa Colony to death in 1995 as well as being involved in several murders and attempted murders of religious and political figures in Karachi.
