KARACHI:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has jumped in to the politics for the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) oxygen plant after Pakistan Peoples Party and Jamaat-e-Islami.

MQM-P has announced that it will hold protests to make this important equipment functional.

Amid the raging coronavirus pandemic and the surging demand for oxygen for patients, a treasure is tucked away in PSM – a dysfunctional oxygen plant, which was once used to reach high temperatures during combustion in blast furnace. A delegation of supreme council of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) labour unions gave a detailed briefing about the situation of PSM's oxygen plant and chances of its revival, to a delegation of MQM-P and federal ministers.

According to the sources, MQM-P has decided to put its recommendations before the federal government regarding the revival of the oxygen plant and a suggestion for a meeting of MQM-P delegation and technical experts with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
