Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Friday that Pakistan is resolute in its commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia and defence of the two holy mosques.

The army chief’s remarks came during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and KSA’s Deputy Defence Minister Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in Jeddah today.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent developments in the Afghan peace process, bilateral defence, security, collaboration for regional peace and connectivity were discussed during the meeting.

The crown prince also acknowledged Pakistan's role towards regional peace and stability, the military's media wing said in a tweet.

“The relations between KSA and Pakistan are based on bonds of brotherhood and mutual trust and both nations will continue to play their part for peace, stability and betterment of Muslim Ummah,” the ISPR said quoting the crown prince.

The COAS reached Riyadh on May 4 ahead of the crucial three-day trip by Prime Minister Imran Khan to Saudi Arabia which he would embark on today.
The premier will be visiting the kingdom on the invitation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other members of the federal cabinet.
