SHO among 12 booked for looting citizens

Suspects snatched Rs30 million in cash, three tolas gold jewellery

At least 12 suspects, including a former SHO Okara have been booked under the provisions of robbery of and kidnapping in Chichawatni on Wednesday.

The case was registered in Saddar Chichawatni police station under different sections of PPC including 365(Kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) and 395(Punishment for dacoity) on the complaint of Muhammad Saleem. Former SHO Abdul Aziz Cheema has been arrested while police are conducting raids to nab 11 other suspects.

Police said Mohammad Saleem Dogar, resident of Chichawatni requested the police station that on 25/03/21 at7 pm, former SHO Okara police station Abdul Aziz Cheema along with six policemen and five private persons entered his uncle's house at 38 Bara L and snatched Rs30 million in cash and three tolas gold jewellery.

Meanwhile, the suspect Tufail Dogar and five others, including a woman and a newborn baby, were taken away in a vehicle and SHO Saddar Okara Police Station Abdul Aziz Cheema registered a fake case No 320/21 crime 9C against him in Saddar Okara Police Station.

The plaintiff filed a petition in this regard after which the higher authorities took notice of the incident and suspended former SHO Sadar Police Station Inspector Aziz Ahmed and ordered a full inquiry into the incident.

Inquiry report of the incident found the suspect guilty, after which Sadar Chichawatni Police Station registered a case against former SHO Okara Inspector Abdul Aziz Cheema, six policemen and five private suspects. Inspector Abdul Aziz was arrested and taken in custody while raids are being carried out to nab 11 other suspects.

Last month, At least nine people including an SHO were booked over an alleged custodial death in the district. Police said, Mazhar Iqbal, a resident of 403 GB was caught from the house of his girlfriend. He was handed over to the police after being tortured by her family members. Police allegedly kept torturing him by calling him a dacoit which led to his death.

Police had registered a case of murder against seven persons including the relatives of the girl nominated in the complaint filed by the victim's brother Shahmand Ali while hiding the facts. When CPO Faisalabad Captain (retd) Sohail Chaudhry initiated an inquiry into the complaint the facts came to the light. Nine policemen including SHO City Tandlianwala Inspector Arshad Randhawa, Hawaldar (moharrar) Khizar Hayat, Deputy moharrar Abrar were suspended over negligence of duty and misuse of power.

Meanwhile, Shahmand Ali, a labourer of 403 GB in City Tandlianwala police station, filed a case on April 15 under the provisions of murder. Ali stated, “My brother Mazhar Ali was coming home from Nursery Tayba Town via Bypass Road van the suspects Masood, Iqbal, Nisar, along with their two accomplices Saqlain and Waheed tortured my brother with pistol butts and sticks on suspicion of having illicit relations with their sister.”
