Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 celebrated the International Firefighters’ Day.
In this regard, a ceremony was held at Darbar Hall of Governor House on Tuesday.
Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Punjab Rescue 1122 DG Dr Rizwan Naseer, Rescue 1122 officers from headquarters, academy, districts, and firefighters also attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarwar acknowledged and paid tribute to the firefighters who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while rendering their services to protect human lives and properties of the citizens.
The firefighters who had died in the course of their duties were remembered with a minute’s silence. The governor further said the services of all these fire rescuers had been written in history with golden words. He reiterated that the services of all these fire rescuers were footsteps for their colleagues.
Sarwar added that in order to start the Fire and Rescue Service in Pakistan, he arranged the training of Rescue 1122 officers in Scotland during his tenure as Scottish parliamentarian.
