Shops sealed over SOPs violation in DHA

KARACHI:

Four shops were sealed in the commercial area of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase V, popularly known as Khadda Market for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) devised to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The district administration teams backed by contingents of police, Sindh Rangers and Pakistan Army also levied a cumulative fine of around Rs120,000 on grocers, fruit and vegetable shops, poultry, mutton and beef sellers for charging above the official rates from customers at this high end shopping hub.

In all the district administration teams backed by contingents of police, Rangers and Army sealed 150 commercial premises across the city over SOPs violations and opening up on Sunday.

The enforcement teams sealed 100 shops in Liyari's for opening up on Sunday and violating SOPs. Similarly, 21 shops were sealed in the Central district and 24 in other localities. The Sindh home department has issued directives for closing shops on Friday and Sunday as part of micro lockdowns to reduce the spread of the pandemic.
