KARACHI:

The Malir City Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested a Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) worker allegedly involved in the murder of a former town nazim of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr Parvez, and his driver.

According to the Malir City Police spokesperson, the arrest was made after the police received information about the MQM-L worker, Abdur Rehman, coming to meet one of his accomplices near Malir Halt.

The spokesperson said the police seized a grenade and a detonator from Rehman.

He claimed Rehman had confessed to killing Dr Parvez and his driver, Khaleequallah, in 2012.

Rehman admitted that he, along with an accomplice, opened fire on Dr Parvez's car, the spokesperson said, adding that the MQM-L worker had fled the country after the incident.

According to the spokesperson, Rehman confessed to five more murders, which he committed along with his accomplices.
