Two-year-old dies of measles in Larkana

LARKANA:

A two-year-old boy, Noman, died of measles in in Naundero on Saturday, with six other children also suffering from the same disease in his family.

Those suffering from the disease include two-year-old Shayan and Faiza, four-year-old Mahnoor and three-year-old Junaid, Haseeb and Javeria.

In this connection, Noman's father, Abdul Latif Mirani, told media persons that his son was admitted to Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) three days ago. Doctors, however, discharged him yesterday, saying that Noman's life could not be saved and his son expired at night, said Mirani.

Parents continue to bring their children having measles to CMCH in Larkana and Government Hospital in Naundero, despite the authorities having inaugurated World Immunisation Week on 24th April, during which a vaccination drive was to be launched across the district.

According to sources at CMCH, three isolation wards at the hospital's paeds department, each having five beds, are full.

Recently, the media had reported a sudden rise in the cases of measles among children in Larkana.
