Justice Waqar Hassan Mir said Hashmi has been acquitted as no concrete evidence or witnesses were available to suggest his involvement in any act of treason.
The treason case was registered against him in the Secretariat police station in 2003, after he made a speech against former President Pervaiz Musharraf in the parliament.
Hashmi was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment in 2004 but was released on bail in 2007, after serving 3 years and 9 months in prison.
