Sarwar, Elahi discuss resurgence in virus, govt response to pandemic

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi expressed serious concern over coronavirus resurgence and increasing number of casualties and urged the public to fully comply with SOPs.

The provincial assembly (PA) speaker called on the governor at his residence on Sunday and discussed the province’s coronavirus situation, government affairs and the current political scenario.

Inter-party relations, political and governmental issues came under discussion during the meeting. Both leaders expressed concern over recommendations of a one-member minority commission on the curriculum.

During the meeting, Sarwar and Elahi termed the situation of coronavirus as alarming and appealed to the people to follow coronavirus SOPs.

The governor, while appreciating the role of PML-Q as an ally, said, “The government will move forward along with its allies.”

The government was accelerating the process of vaccination and provision of oxygen and ventilators in the hospitals, he highlighted.
