Kite string slits man’s throat in Harbanspura

Victim breathes last at a nearby hospital

A 51-year-old man was killed due to a kite string in Harbanspura on Sunday.

The victim identified as Manzoor Hussain, a resident of Nankana Sahib, was going somewhere on his motorcycle. When he reached near Jallo Mor, a kite string ran over his neck. The victim fell down and sustained injuries.

He was shifted to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A police team reached the spot on information, shifted the body to a morgue for autopsy and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene.

Punjab IGP Inam Ghani took notice of the incident and asked Lahore CCPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar to submit a report. DIG Operations Sajid Kiyani suspended Harbanspura SHO and asked him to report to police lines.

A spokesperson for Lahore Police said that over 1,900 cases against kite flying had been registered in various police stations of the city and as many as 1,969 suspects had been arrested.

Moreover, at least 37,500 kites and related material of over 7,000 kites was also recovered.
