Bollywood mourns the death of music composer Shravan Rathod

Ace 90s composer succumbed to Covid-19

Famous Bollywood music composer Shravan Rathod of the popular Nadeem-Shravan duo has passed away due to Covid-19 complications on Thursday. Together, the pair had created evergreen melodies in the 90s for films like Saajan, Phool Aur Kaante and Aashiqui, reported The Indian Express.

The sudden death of the Aisi Deewangi hit maker has left many fans and admirers shocked. Many Bollywood stars paid tribute on various media platforms to the late Shravan and remembered his timeless music scores. Actor Akshay Kumar took the sad news to Twitter and attributed Shravan for creating ‘magic’ for his film Dhadkan. He wrote, “Very sad to know about the passing of music composer Shravan. Nadeem-Shravan created magic for many films in the 90s and later, including Dhadkan that has remained legendary in my career. Deepest condolences to his family.”

Ajay Devgn also remembered the musician and tweeted, “Shravan (and Nadeem) walked 30 years alongside me in my career with the evergreen album for Phool Aur Kaante. Very sad; very unfortunate to hear of his demise last night. Condolences to his family.”

 

Meanwhile, Madhuri Dixit-Nene thanked Shravan for being a part of her hit films. “Heartbroken to hear about Shravan Rathod's passing this morning. Your name will live on forever through your timeless melodies. Thank you for your music and for being a part of my journey with Saajan, Raja and many more films. My deepest condolences to the family and friends in grief.”

Ace playback singer Shreya Ghoshal called his death a huge loss in this pandemic. “Shocked to hear the news of Shravan jee (of Nadeem Shravan) passing away,” she began in her tweet. “A genuine, humble human being and one of the biggest composers of our music industry. Another huge loss in this pandemic. God give strength to the bereaved family. Rest in peace.”

Music composer, Salim Merchant added, “Shravan bhai is no more. My respects and condolences to his family. Nadeem-Shravan has given us some of the biggest hits in the 90s. Covid-19 has taken so many lives. Don’t know when this will end...Really saddened by this news.”

Singer Adnan Sami also chimed in saying, “Extremely saddened by the tragic news of legendary music composer Shravan jee’s demise. He was not just an incredible composer but also possessed an ever-loving soul and a beautiful heart. May he Rest in peace.”

While India keeps reporting an exponential amount of coronavirus cases, music composer, Pritam shared, “Saddened to know that Shravan jee of Nadeem Shravan has passed away. Feeling numb. When will this nightmare get over? My deepest condolences to his family.”

Shravan along with his partner Nadeem, were widely regarded as a music duo that brought fresh melodies in the early 90s. They were best known for their work in Deewana, Raja Hindustani, Pardes, Hungama and many other hit films of the era. However, the two parted ways in mid-2000, later reuniting for David Dhawan’s Do Knot Disturb in 2009.
