Teaching children Islamic studies is in line with the Article 31 of the Constitution, however, this is solely for the Muslim children, the minorities continue to enjoy the right to teach their children other subjects in place of Islamiat.
Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh Amir Muhammad Hussain Mehnati said this in a statement issued on Thursday trashing criticism of the Minorities Commission Pakistan on the curriculum taught in the boards of Pakistan's federating units.
Representatives of minorities can prepare their own curriculum, but criticising the curriculum of the majority is totally unfounded.
