PESHAWAR:

In Town I Peshawar two drivers have been promoted to Junior Clerk and Building Inspector posts by the administration in violation of the rules and regulations.

Even many more people have been recruited illegally by the authorities without inviting any attention.

Talking to The Express Tribune the president of All Pakistan Local Government Workers Federation, Malik Muhammad Naveed Awan said that the Town I administration has promoted two drivers of scale three and six to scale seven, 11 by appointing them to junior clerk and assistant building inspector.

He blamed that a man was recruited four months ago as tax helper but now he has been promoted to the post of tax collector.

“Those who do not deserve promotions under the law have been promoted against all the rules and regulations while those senior employees who do not have any political affiliation or backing are being ignored despite the fact that they are really deserving and capable,” he said.

He added that a driver cannot be promoted to building inspector post by any means because of the totally different cadres and scale and nature of job but this has been done.

“The Local Government Department in a joint meeting of the two federations assured us that a seniority list will be finalized at each district level and the minutes of these declarations are available with the administration but even then out of way promotions have been made on political grounds and this is going on in the PTI government which is very quick to talk of merit as well as reforms in each and every department.
