535 Covid patients recover in a day

Punjab Health Department says 180,383 have recovered so far

As many as 535 coronavirus patients recovered, a report presented by the Punjab Health department revealed on Friday. As per the data shared by the health department, 180,383 coronavirus patients have recovered so far in 200 public sector hospitals operating under the control of Specialized, and Primary and Secondary Healthcare departments across the province.

Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Secretary Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan, while talking to the media said at least 6,518 beds have been reserved in government hospitals for coronavirus patients. “Out of the total, 4,165 beds are currently unoccupied,” he confirmed adding that 1,598 beds are reserved in the city’s government hospitals alone out of which 807 beds are lying vacant. The secretary also said that the department had arranged 3,111 beds for isolation wards of all government hospitals in the province, of these 2,406 are unoccupied.

He stated that 446 beds for coronavirus patients have been kept in isolation wards inside the public hospitals of Lahore, out of these only 27% are occupied by patients as of now. With regard to ventilators the secretary said the specialized healthcare department had arranged 638 ventilators for Covid-19 patients in Punjab government-run hospitals. “344 are under use whereas 294 are vacant,” he detailed. “Around 246 ventilators were reserved for Lahore hospitals out of which almost all (202) ventilators are in use,” Barrister Nabeel highlighted.
