CHICHWATNI:

Lack of human resource and equipment at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Chichawatni has led to a health crisis in the area. According to official sources, at least 40 posts of healthcare staff are currently vacant in the hospital despite the ongoing pandemic. Citizens are forced to seek emergency treatment from faraway health facilities due to unavailability of emergency medical officers and doctors and most of the time lives are lost during the process of seeking assistance. Some time ago, Yousuf Jamal Tika, the president of the Central Traders Association, passed away at the hospital as no qualified doctor was available in the operation threatre to treat a bullet wound he had suffered while resisting a robbery. The Express Tribune has learnt that the posts of surgeon, child specialist, anaesthesiologist, nephrologist, pathologist, radiologist, ENT specialist, pulmonologist, senior woman medical officer, emergency medical specialist, respiratory technologist, anaesthesia technologist, urology technologist and male and female physiotherapist are lying vacant for the past many years.
