171 more test positive for coronavirus in Rawalpindi

Abbottabad District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Shah Faisal Khanzada tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday and went into self-quarantine for two weeks. 

According to a spokesperson, Dr Khanzada was working as a frontline worker to protect the people of his district from the lethal third wave of the virus but got caught in the outbreak. He urged the masses to follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government. Four more judicial employees of district courts in Abbottabad tested positive while on the recommendations of the health department District and Session Judge sealed four more judicial offices for two weeks. The employees were identified as Zahoor Ahmed, Hameed Akbar, Muhammad Riaz and Hafeezur Rehman.

Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, 171 confirmed cases were reported on Wednesday while Covid-19 vaccines have been administered to 38,538 recipients since inoculation began on March 10. District Health Coordinator Dr Jawad Khalid told that 12,683 health workers while 25,855 people, including senior citizens, have received their first dose of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine so far. He informed that the district health authority has registered a total of 19,742 positive cases to date. He further stated that 15,316 patients were discharged after making a full recovery while 2,841 were quarantined at homes and 2,028 were in isolation at different hospitals across the district.
