ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) directed the Punjab government to submit a report on industrial homes being run by the NGOs in the province on Thursday.

The directives were issued during the hearing of a suo motu notice taken on an industrial home worker’s letter wherein the worker had requested the court to take notice of female workers in industrial homes being paid very less.

During the hearing, Justice Shakir Ullah Jan sought information on the NGOs’ sources of funding.

The SC asked the provincial government to submit details on the profit being earned through these industrial homes as well as seeking details of the stipend being paid by the government to the NGOs.

Hearing of the case has been adjourned for an indefinite period.
