Over 200 fresh infections, five fatalities reported

CM Murad says the pandemic tally and provincial death toll climbed to 265,679 and 4,502, respectively

Another five persons succumbed to the coronavirus in Sindh, which reported over 200 fresh infections on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, 247 new cases were diagnosed when 9,634 samples were tested for the contagion.

Elaborating further, Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the pandemic tally and provincial death toll climbed to 265,679 and 4,502, respectively, with the recent figures. Besides, he added, 244 persons also recovered from the infection overnight, lifting the total number of recoveries to 256,276.

The CM said that currently 4,901 patients were under treatment for the infection in Sindh. Of these, 4,600 were in home isolation, 10 at isolation centres and 291 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 267 patients was stated to be critical, including 38 shifted to ventilators.

Of the 247 fresh infections, 147 emerged in Karachi.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 18 new cases, Ghotki and Mirpurkhas nine each, Badin eight, Larkana and Thatta seven each, Tando Muhammad Khan six, Sukkur five, Jacobabad and Sujawal four each, Jamshoro, Khairpur, Naushero Feroze, Tando Allahyar and Kambar Shahdadkot three each, Umerkot two and Shikarpur reported one new case.
