Bella Hadid condemns murder of Pakistani driver in Washington, DC

Mohammad Anwar, a 66-year-old immigrant, was killed after two teenage girls assaulted him while carjacking

Two teenage girls were charged for the murder and armed carjacking of an Uber Eats driver this week in Washington, DC, said the police reported WRAL, an NBC-affiliate.

Mohammad Anwar, a 66-year-old immigrant from Pakistan, was killed last Tuesday afternoon near Nationals Park, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement. Anwar, who lived in Springfield, Virginia, was working as an Uber Eats driver, according to a GoFundMe page set up by his family.

According to reports, the girls, 13 and 15, assaulted Anwar with a Taser while carjacking him, which led to an accident in which he was fatally injured

Now, American model Isabella Khair Hadid, popularly known as Bella Hadid, has mourned the loss and condemned the act. Taking to her Instagram stories on Tuesday, Hadid wrote, “This is devastating. God bless him and his family.”

She added, “No one, and I mean no one should ever have to endure this, especially while doing their job.”

The outlet also quoted an Uber spokesperson as saying "We are devastated by this tragic news and our hearts go out to Mohammad's family during this difficult time. We're grateful the suspects have been arrested and thank the Metropolitan Police Department for their diligence with this investigation."

The 13-year-old girl is from the southeast section of DC, whereas the 15-year-old if from Fort Washington, Maryland, police said.

Anwar emigrated from Pakistan in 2014, according to his family members, who also said he "was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one. He leaves behind a family, near and far, who cherish, love, and miss him dearly.”
