Court rejects challan in wrong injection case

IO says the complainant does not want further legal proceeding

KARACHI:

A Sindh local court rejected on Monday the challan submitted by the police in a case pertaining to the death of an infant allegedly caused by a wrong injection, administered at Fatima Hospital.

The East judicial magistrate was hearing the case at Karachi City Court.

The police changed the status of the case to C-class.

The investigation officer submitted the case challan, stating that the complainant didn't want to further the legal proceeding of the case and he has provided an affidavit with his request.

The court rejected the challan.

The complainant, Altaf Hussain, had stated that his wife gave birth to twin babies, a boy and a girl, at Fatima Hospital.

The babies had to be vaccinated next day as per the doctor's instruction but the condition of the baby girl deteriorated after vaccination.

However, the doctor sent them home claiming everything to be alright but the baby never woke up after falling asleep as her mother fed her.

According to police, the case had been registered at Soldier Bazaar Police Station.
