Five perish in Sheikhupura accident

12 others sustain injuries as bus collides with truck on GT Road

Five persons were killed while 12 others sustained injuries after a passenger bus collided with a truck on GT Road near Sadhoki in Sheikhupura on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 and Edhi ambulances rushed to the spot and started relief operation.

All the injured were shifted to Muridke THQ hospital. Police said the Sialkot-bound bus was coming from Sadiqabad when it hit a truck at high speed.

Five persons including two children, a woman and two men died on the spot.

Those who were killed in the road crash were identified as Saima, 45, wife of Mohammad Iqbal, Mohammed Siddique, 21, Mohammed Umair, 3, Mohammed Zubeir, 1, and a 35-year-old man.

As soon as the road accident was reported, Sheikhupura Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asghar Joiya and Sheikhupura DPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan rushed to the spot and directed to provide immediate medical treatment to the injured.

A Rescue 1122 official said that the road accident occurred due to overspeeding.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital while the bodies were handed over to police. Later, police shifted the bodies to a mortuary for legal formalities.
