Attackers escaped taking full advantage of the darkness

DI KHAN:

Three policemen were injured when unidentified miscreants attacked a police armoured vehicle in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan last night.

Police officials told The Express Tribune that the vehicle was attacked with RGP-7s as well as hand grenades. The miscreants also fired at the vehicle in which three policemen were injured. “The vehicle was patrolling the area and it was on its way to the check post when miscreants ambushed it and used heavy and small weapons. It left three policemen injured who have been rushed to the hospital,” said police, adding that the police returned fire after which the attackers escaped taking full advantage of the darkness.

It is worth mentioning here that the attack took place just one day ahead of the jeep rally whose participants have reached Dera Ismail Khan. Off roaders from across the country will take part in the rally which will also be attended by Amin Gandapur.

Soon after the attack a large contingent of police reached the area who cordoned off the entire locality and conducted a door to door search operation but the attackers had escaped.
