LAHORE:

Traffic police have opened four of the six planned digital driving licence test centres (DLTCs) in the provincial metropolis, while two facilities will be established at Greater Iqbal Park and the Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

This was stated by Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar while inaugurating a digitalised online driving licence test centre at the khidmat markaz in Bahria Town Lahore with the facility of online applications.

He also inspected the process and standard of the online facility, service delivery and the driving arena.

Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Hammad Abid said while briefing the CCPO that the state of the art centre will reduce the load at other testing centres whereas the paperless licence issuing and automated driving test recording systems have proved to be significant steps towards smart and community policing.

The CCPO said while talking to media persons that the integrated driving licence testing centres will provide facilities of renewal, fresh and international traffic licensing. Earlier citizens of south Lahore had to travel a long distance to get the licence and other related facilities.

He said there were 19 licensing centres and three vans where about 500,000 citizens are served annually. The citizens can get appointments for the issuance of driving licences through the Rasta app of the traffic police.

Dogar said that the use of modern technology has made professional matters more transparent and helped save time and money.

The CCPO also stressed that the police officials deputed at all places should wear face masks, use hand sanitisers and maintain social distancing to protect themselves from the new wave of coronavirus.
