Car thieves target same car twice in one month

Victim claims to have suffered Rs600,000 loss in Defence View area

Automobile burglaries have been on the rise in the metropolis.

A case emerged in Defence View Phase I area on Monday with a citizen complaining of perpetrators breaking into his hybrid Vezel car and stealing costly dashboard panels and other valuables twice in one month. A case was lodged with the Baloch Colony Police Station in this regard.

According to the complainant, Muhammad Waqar alias Vicky, his car was parked outside his house, in the remits of Baloch Colony Police Station, when two unidentified suspects broke into the vehicle at around 5am on Monday.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Waqar said that the perpetrators disembarked from the motorcycle and attempted to shatter the windows of the driving seat.

After failing to do so, they broke through the passenger seat window and took away with the car's dashboard panel and other valuables.

The footage from closed-circuit cameras installed at his house showed two suspects with one in a mask and the other without. The complainant said that he had been the victim of a similar burglary on February 28, 2021. He maintained that he incurred a combined loss of over Rs600,000 in the two incidents.
